

Prior to his leadership in the Senate, Buck was the Coalitions Director and Deputy Chief Health Counsel for House Committee on Energy and Commerce Chairman Greg Walden, where he worked with senior staff across all six subcommittees to engage industry stakeholders. In his senior committee roles, Buck has gained extensive knowledge of legislative and regulatory procedures, federal budgetary mechanics, and private and public health insurance regulations, particularly the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). This experience has led Buck to become one of the most sought-after experts on the Public Health Service Act (PHSA) and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) as well as policies within the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) and the Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act (FDCA).
Among his many legislative achievements, Buck counts the most rewarding his work formulating, drafting, and negotiating, the SUPPORT Act – a landmark law to combat the opioid epidemic.
Buck received his undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi and his master’s degree in public policy and administration from Mississippi State University. He lives in Washington, DC, with his wife, Emily, and their two young daughters.
